The Red Plague
There is no vaccine for the Plague
The FIRST Robotics Team 3010 first began at the end of 2008 under the name Centerburg Trojan Robotics club. As 2008 became 2009, the identity of the team became clearer. Several students had joined together to make a robotics team that would compete at the Buckeye Regional in Cleveland, Ohio. We participated in 2009's challenge Lunacy with our very first robot "The Big Metal Box." Our team did very well the first time we competed. We made it to the final round of the Buckeye Regional competition. We also won the Rookie All-Star Award and the Highest Seed Rookie Award. Because we won the Rookie-All Star Award, we were eligible for the national competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Our team traveled to Atlanta in the spring of 2009. The team all agreed that going to Atlanta had been a great learning opportunity for the entire team.

After we arrived home from Atlanta, it became clear that our team needed a catchier, more fun name than the Centerburg Trojan Robotics Club. In the beginning of 2010 we officially became the Red Plague. We also replaced our previous motto, "We are your future boss," with the motto, "There is no vaccine for the Plague." Our team gained members, who were all eager for the challenge in 2010; "Breakaway." We competed once again at the Buckeye Regional with our new robot, "The Red Death." It soon became apparent that our team was destined for success, as we won the championship game at the Buckeye Regional. Although winning the Buckeye Regional entitled us to another trip to the Championship in Atlanta, we decided that financial constraints would prevent us from attending.

2011's challenge was Logomotion. Our team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio where we once again celebrated victory. Our team won the chamionship round for the second year in a row. We also met our goal of winning a non-robotic award. We won the Excellence in Design Award sponsored by Autodesk for our animation "Slime Time." You can check this video out on our "Pics and Videos" page. We then traveled as a team to the national competition in St. Louis, Missouri. The team had an amazing time competing and attending fun events like Robo-Prom, the FIRST "half-time" show featuring The Black Eyed Peas, and visiting the St. Louis arch.

2012's challenge is Rebound Rumble. The team is planning on attending the Buckeye Regional again, where we hope to do well and learn even more. Thank you to all our sponsors, past and present.
